Charity organization

On past Sunday Ruggell the installation of the new jurisdiction Chaplain of the Order of Saint Lazarus and Spiritual of the Lazarus of welfare organization (LHW) E.V. in Liechtenstein took place  in the parish church.

Since 1978 the knight Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem in Liechtenstein, whose forerunner counts as one of the oldest religious communities, exists. The roots can historical be retraced on the founders of a hospital before nearly 1000 years outside of the city walls Jerusalems, which maintained there leprosy-ill humans up to their death. Originally the medal was purely hospitalisch aligned, had to transfer however in the course of the crusades also a military attendance of patients, from where the term military hospital for the military hospital was coined. The helping and hospitalische adjustment of the medal until today remained contentwise in such a way, although also the field expanded not only on the nursing for the sick, but also on preventive measures in charitable environment substantial.

Brotherly love as the highest requirement

Although as only medals ecumenical aligned, the Lazarus medal humans of any persuasion is open, which want to live the ideal of the Christian brotherly love actively. Like that it was one of the first tasks of the Lazarus medal in the country to call the child and concern telephone 147 in the life which represents a 24-hour refuge for young people and its problems up to today by large honorary employment. Starting from the year 2008 the Lazarus was brought by way of trial (LHW) the welfare organization E.V. with its numerous charitable projects as operational arm of the medal into being, which renders active help at home and abroad today in the context of international projects in the development area. All organizations are appreciative and tax-exempt due to their charitable character of the of Liechtenstein government as socially all non-profit. Domiziliert are them all in Ruggell. After passing away Theodor Bucher, the jurisdiction Chaplain at that time, and the delegation of the present jurisdiction Chaplain, Guido Hangartner as directors/conductors of the LHW project “Lazarus Public Charitable Trust” (LPCT) in Kerala/India, could be won now Thomas Jäger as worthy successors for this responsible task. Rev. Jäger is a community minister in Ruggell and the pastoral care within the medal and the welfare organization will take over. For this task we wish it much strength and God benediction. (jg)

Vocational training center

(Newspaper article in German)

19.09.2013 -- Help to the self-help in India

“If humans nothing more have, have he still his pride” - on this principle an aid project of the Lazarus of welfare organization Liechtenstein in India depends. A whole region is to be strengthened by a professional training center effectively.

Of Angela Hüppi (

Ruggell/Kerala. - “If someone to beg must and on the gifts of others is dependent, confirms it only in the fact that he is poor”, says a minister Guido Hangartner. It is responsible for the Lazarus welfare organization Liechtenstein for the aid project in Kerala, a Federal State in the south of India. Therefore project is to be different to be: A company, which trains Indian young people in all occupation, which needs it, in order a house to build - carpenters, bricklayers, electrical plumber, sanitary plumber and plumber. In only five years the first apprentices are to become masters, who can take the place of the foreign training forces. After further three years the enterprise is self-supporting - so the plan.

A hammer for 200 apprentices

For three years Guido Hangartner, which completed once even writer teachings, at the concept for a vocational training center in Kerala works. It traveled again and again to India, where the shears between arm and realm gape far. “We began with small projects - we reconditioned a school in a slum area, tell school books or material donated for dresses”, Hangartner. Soon it noticed that the educational system is in Kerala on a good way: The first four school stages are free, so that also poor children can learn at least a reading and a writing. “Which is missing, is a reasonable vocational training”, so to Hangartner. Its project sets exactly there.

There are already centers for vocational training in Kerala - the training conditions are however poor. “Often a hammer or a hand saw for 200 apprentices must hand”, describes Guido Hangartner the conditions. So can be learned in two years training very also not much - with the consequence that a training center is not paid and is not possibly soon closed.

Evolution instead of revolution

The center planned by Hangartner is to train ever five young people per occupation per year. The number is intentionally visible - the project is not to compete more weakly the training. Step by step a better trained generation is to create own companies and to support also more weakly the training. “We do not want a revolution. One must leave humans time, to the new conditions to adapt”, explains Guido Hangartner.

Board and lodgings should be free for the training, and they also are to receive wages for their work. However this is not claimed during the training on a blocked account paid - thereby it by relatives. “All wages are to serve in the end the training as starting capital for their own company” explain Hangartner. Because this is missing, the recent, to well trained humans work abroad would probably look for. A goal of the project is it however that they remain in the region, create own companies and create so new jobs.

Dependent on many donations

A founded professional training after Liechtensteiner model is however not everything that is to offer the project to the young person. Quasi besides the training are to be trained also eco-socially, without it is located in the curriculum. So vegetable is to be cultivated on the roof and solar energy to be won, while water cisterns under the building from rain make drinking water and a biological gas facility provides for a meaningful recycling of waste.

All projects, which require investments. But half things are not applicable for minister Guido Hangartner. Already in December it would like to begin with the building of the building - but the first two project years would have financed, speak 1.6 million franc to have together come. Apart from cash donations Hangartner hopes also for material donations in the form of machines or teaching materials - and it needs also practical Fachausbildner, until the first training themselves took the mastership examination. The fact that it put itself an extremely ambitious goal is conscious of Guido Hangartner. Nevertheless he hopes, as soon as possible to India travels and its and well thought-out project prepared for a long time to the act to convert to be able.
